Best place for a holiday base in the south of South Korea?

I am going to South Korea for 2 weeks in April, visiting Seoul and Sokcho but I still need to know where to base myself in the south of the country, a place with good transport to get to nearby tourist areas.I still cannot decide between Daejeon, Daegu or Busan. Any other ideas?
