What does a lens with an aperture of f/1.8 produce?

It will produce comparitively fast shutter speeds, paper-thin depth of field photos, and probably tack sharp images, as optics in lenses with large max apertures tend to be better. Especially since I bet you're talking about a 50mm, which is a prime lens that tends to have excellent optics.
