Will bug spray kill a reptile?

Due to the way toxins contained in bug sprays affect cold blooded creatures (spiders/bugs) is it bad to use bug sprays around lizards? or are the toxins not sufficiently potent to affect a lizard thats say over 1 foot long if the bug spray is used in another room? (there is a similar but badly answered question like mine, so please don't flame me or call me a tard like the other person received, I'm being serious, i own blue-tongue lizards.) Has anybody heard of any examples? we have a terrible big black spider problem, and we don't use sprays at this point for fear of harming the lizard. Thanks.
