What is it like to backpack through Egypt?

I have been backpacking around the world for over 2 years now through Asia and parts of Europe so i am experienced at doing this and going off the beaten track. Im wanting peoples views and opinions on backpacking through Egypt and experiences going off the beaten track. (like Cambodia the heat can be a good experiance). Cheers
