Why does the media glorify jocks and stupid people and portray geeks as the loosers, really why is this?

There are always stereotypes that are going to be maged for public consumption, but I would argue also that these stereotypes are sometimes turned around. What about REVENGE OF THE NERDS? Also, with the modern introduction of the computer age, nerds aren't looked down upon as they once were. All those guys who started the whole thing; Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, the Facebook guys...nerds! But, nobody calls you a nerd anymore when you've got a billion bucks! Trust me.
